1969 Disneyland Band Album Added

In 1968 t

he original conductor of the Disneyland Band, Vesey Walker retired and handed over the baton to James Christensen. The following year the Band recorded their second vinyl LP.

A lot had changed in the world of Disney since the band’s first album was released thirteen years prior in 1956 including the release of several popular movies such as Mary Poppins, as well as the development of the it’s a small world attraction for the 1964 World’s Fair (and its subsequent relocation to Disneyland). So there was plenty of new music for the band to cover.

This new release features tracks such as Mary Poppins Overture, a medley from the Jungle Book, it’s a small world, as well as The Stars and Stripes Forever.

Comprised at the time of 17 of the nations finest musicians ranging in age from 24 to 60 years, the band features a repertoire of over 250 selections – each memorized. Members of the band heard on this recording are: Director James Christensen, (Woodwinds) Bud Smith, Francis Polifroni, Al Francis, Dick Strimple, Joe Miller, Don Baker. (Trumpets0 Herman Terando, Joe Rodax, Warren Gale, Ed Ericsson. (Trombones) Assistant Director Jim Barngrover, Robbie Robinson, Don Gustafson. (Baritone) George Werner. (Tuba) Randy Anglin. (Percussion) George Richter, John Whited.
